When Is A Good Time To POUR cONCRETE
A-Concrete Inc has the capability to pour all year around.
hOW tHICK sHOULD MY CONCRETE BE POURED?
Due to expansive soils the minimum thickness is 4”. Though, depending on the weight to be applied to a slab, can be any thickness.
dOES cONCRETE cRACK?
Yes, all concrete cracks! This is due to the evaporation of water coming out of the concrete as it cures. This is not a reflection of poor workmanship.
wHAT ARE cONTROL jOINTS?
Control joints are intentional lines placed in the concrete to weaken the slab and help guide the cracks. This is an attempt to help prevent random cracking. Not all cracks will crack in a straight line or follow the joint line. Straight cracks are more aesthetically pleasing than random cracks.
After It's Set
hOW lONG Until it can be walked on?
In most general situations, the following day you can walk on the concrete without damage. Depending on weather conditions and some other variables it can lengthen or shorten this amount of time.
how long does it take to tear out and repair my driveway?
Most driveways can be torn out and replaced within one day, depending on the size.
What can be done to reduce the magnesium chloride damage to my driveway?
Magnesium chloride causes your driveway to spall (break) or chip away. When pouring new driveways, a chemical called AE3, which is a anti-spalling chemical that can be added to the mix design to prevent spalling damage.
How often do I need to clear seal my colored or stamped concrete?
Clear seal should be applied as needed. Typically, the first application should be applied 28 days after the pour and then again the following year. If proper snow removal is done throughout the winter months, a seal should be reapplied every 3-5 years after that. Stamped concrete that looks dull can be revived by a new coat of sealer.
how long should my concrete last?
Properly maintained concrete should last 50 years.
